THE TEIGNBRIDGE VOLUNTARY NAIL CUTTING SERVICE
We offer nail cutting support in their own homes to people with healthy feet and healthy toenails who are genuinely unable to manage their own personal footcare. This will usually be older people but examples of other people who would be eligible are:- those with a learning or physical disability, those with a visual or cognitive impairment, people suffering from arthritis or breathlessness. However, some people should NOT access the service, please check the information at the bottom of the page.
Your feet must be healthy and your toenails must not be severely
thickened or deformed. If you have a corn or callus you can still use our service for nail cutting, but we will not be able to treat the corn or callus. Our staff are not qualified podiatrists, although they have received training from a NHS podiatrist. They are not qualified to undertake anything other than uncomplicated nail cutting. Our practitioners will treat you in your own home. You will need to purchase the equipment pack from us (cost £8) and then keep it for our staff to use each time they visit. Our charges are heavily subsidised and are currently £5.50 for toenail trimming, and an additional £1.50 if you would like your fingernails trimmed at the same time. Payment is required in cash at the time of the treatment. This subsidised service is only available for treatments that are at least 5 weeks apart. If you wish to use the service more often than that you will be charged the full cost of £11 per treatment. An additional charge of £1.50 still applies if you have your fingernails trimmed at the same time. Please note that a cancellation charge of £5 will be incurred if you cancel a scheduled appointment less than 24 hours before, and if you fail to cancel an appointment so that our staff have a wasted journey you will be charged the full cost of £11.Please telephone our Co-ordinator for more information or to book a session. The office is manned Monday - Friday 9am-5pm, except when staff are out on visits. Please leave your name and number on our answerphone and we will get back to you as soon as we can.Call 01626 889288
